Described as “The Queen of African Horror,” Nuzo Onoh is the creator of chilling horror fiction from the African Continent. Her books have introduced African Horror to the international stage.  Now recognized as the front-runner of African Horror, Nuzo’s works have been described as “deeply disturbing.” “spine-chilling,” “gripping and haunting.” Nuzo has featured on numerous media platforms, spearheading this new, exciting and unexplored horror subgenre. It is Nuzo’s hope that soon, African Horror will be recognized and enjoyed as other regional horror subgenres, such as Japanese, Korean, and Scandinavian horror.

A British writer of African descent, Nuzo was born in Enugu, the Eastern part of Nigeria, formerly known as The Republic of Biafra. She lived through the civil war between Nigeria and Biafra as a child refugee, an experience that left a strong impact on her and has influenced some of her writing. She attended Queen’s School Enugu before proceeding to the Quaker boarding school, The Mount School, York, England and St Andrew’s Tutorial College, Cambridge, from where she obtained her A’ levels. Nuzo holds both a Law degree and a Masters degree in Writing from The University of Warwick, England. A keen musician, Nuzo plays both the piano and guitar for her own relaxation and holds an NVQ in Digital Music Production from City College, Coventry.

Nuzo has been featured in the book, 80 Black Women in Horror (Sumiko Saulson) and her stories have also appeared in several anthologies. She has given talks and lectures on African Horror, including a lecture at The Miskatonic Institute of Horror Studies in London, UK. Nuzo is the editor of Canaan-Star Publishing UK, which publishes Print on Demand books for writers around the globe.
